CUTA is the official state organization that is affiliated with USA Taekwondo, which it the US national organization that is affiliated with the United States Olympic Committee.
As many of you know, I am one of the Executive Board Member of this organization. When I was elected to the CUTA Board in 2013, the organization was basically bankrupt and in much disarray having lost its non-profit status due to series of mismanagement.
Since then, we cleaned up the financial records, reestablished the non-profit status and establishing programs to support all Taekwondo practitioners.
For the last two years, we were able to support California Champions to compete in several international tournaments.
On a local level, we are hosting seminars for Sparring, Poomsae, Referees, and Coaches education.
We are also establishing MOU’s (Memorandum of Understanding) with other national and international Taekwondo Associations to establish cultural and technical exchanges. This year alone, I was in Korea, Canada, Texas, and Georgia to sign new MOU’s.
The immediate benefit of my involvement in the CUTA is that I gained access to some of the most accomplished instructors in the world who will be coming to our school to do special seminars. In order to participate in these events, you need to be a CUTA member so if you do not already have a membership it is easy to get one. It is $10 per year and you can register on-line at www.catkd.org or I have paper applications in my office.
