A Monthly Letter From Grand Master Choi – August 2013

Hello Everyone,

Looks like summer is coming to an end with everyone going back to school.  Every year we have few students going off to college and this year is no exception.  We have Annastasia Morairty going to University of Puget Sound,  Evan Woo to UCSB, and Emma Wadsworth to UCSD.  I will miss them and wish them much luck and success in their academic endeavors.

Looking ahead to next few months, here are some notable events/dates.

Mom’s Morning Class“- It is called a “Mom’s Class”, but it is open to anyone who is interested in a morning TKD classes.  The classes are held September to end of May on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:00 to 10am.  It’s fun class with lots very nice ladies.  If you and/or friends are interested, please let me know.  First class will be on Tuesday, September 3rd.  I am looking forward to seeing all of you.

Saturday Morning Class- Saturday Morning classes will also resume on Saturday, September 7th.  Class is open to all students 8 and older.  Class time is 9:00 to 10am.

California United Taekwondo Association Memberships:  As many of you know I was elected to the Executive Board of CSTA at the beginning of the year.  One of major accomplishments since I became a Board Member is that we executed several “MOU’s (Memorandum of Understanding) with several Korean State/Provence Taekwondo Associations. The primary purpose of the MOU is to have a formal channel for exchange of Instructors and students for the purpose of improving training techniques, as well as cultural experiences. As a result of the MOU’s we will be hosting a visiting Poomse Instructor, Master Yang Inok, from Korea on November 19th at our studio. Since this is a CUTA sponsored event, participants must be a member of CUTA. Annual Membership fee is $10.  I am hoping to host many more seminars at our studio with some of the best instructors in the world in the area of Poomse and Sparring, so I hope you will become a member so that you will be eligible to participate. Signing up for membership is easy. Here is the link to the CUTA website:

Lastly, Silicon Valley Open Championships will be on Saturday, October 19th.

Thank You,

GM Choi
